Story of Bilkis: The first chapter
Bilkis is a widow who lost her husband in the 2004 tsunami. Later, she shifted to Dhemaji, a flood-prone area in Assam. She was later allotted a house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). But she lost everything in the floods that occurred in July 2018. She was not provided any help. She was forced to go to the nearby forest to collect firewood. She was struggling hard to survive.
Story of Dhananjoy: The second chapter
Dhananjoy is a farmer who lost his paddy crop and house in floods. He was not provided with any help by the government. He had to struggle hard to survive. His entire family was dependent on him to sustain. After a lot of struggle, he finally got some paddy seeds to plant and hopes to earn some money to feed his family and repay the loan taken from a money lender.
Story of Dhruv: The third chapter
Dhruv is a child who lost his home and belongings in floods. He was not provided with any help by the government. He was forced to live in a nearby school. Dhruv was worried about his studies. There were many other children like him who were struggling to survive. There was a lack of basic facilities like drinking water, toilets, proper food etc. in the school. After a lot of struggle, he finally received some help from the government to rebuild his home.
Story of Sahid: The fourth chapter
Sahid works in a tea garden in Jorhat which is hit by erosion. The government helped him construct a new house, but he lost everything in the erosion. He lost his source of livelihood as well. Sahid was not provided with any help by the government.
